Breakfast Porridge
Breakfast Porridge:
A recipe from The
Governor's Inn Buckhannon, West Virginia
3 cups water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups old fashioned oatmeal
2 eggs
1 cup milk
1/4 cup dark molasses
3 ounces Vermont maple syrup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tbsp. ground ginger
1/4 lb. golden raisins
1/4 cup walnuts, chopped
Heat water and salt until boiling. Add oatmeal, cook 5 minutes. Cool.
Combine next 10
ingredients and add to oatmeal. Pour into a large greased baking pan and
bake in
preheated 350 degree oven for 2 hours, uncovered. Serve hot with a small
dab of vanilla
ice cream. |
